Oberon Flower Images - Iris
The Iris (eye of heaven) is an ancient flower whose symbolism is embedded in Egyptian, Greek and Roman mythology and the history of European monarchies. The three petal of the Iris have represented valor, wisdom and faith since the 5th century in the form of the Fleur de Lis symbol, a stylized Iris flower. The Greeks named the flower after the messenger goddess Iris, who traveled on the arcs of rainbows and guided the souls of women to the Elysian Fields. The Iris most common to Americans originated in the species Iris Germnica, native to southern Europe.
