In the Fall of 2013, Amazon released four new kindle models, sending us into frenzy of work to get our hands on new devices, along with lots of measuring and redesigning to get our shop set up for making covers that fit these new devices.
Amazon piled on more work by re-naming some and using old names for new products. Each one (except the Paperwhite) is a different size than its predecessor, so lots of adjustments had to be made. Because we make each cover to order, we need to help our customers make the correct choices, a process that is now even more confusing than it was before!
Change happens! That is one of the basic truths in life!
So here’s the list:
1. The New 7 “ Kindle Fire HDX replaces the old Kindle Fire HD but is a different size.
2. The New Kindle Fire HD replaces the original 2012 Kindle Fire; it is also a different size.
3. The New Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 replaces the Older Kindle Fire HD 8.9, and is also a different size.
4. The new Kindle Paperwhite is exactly the same size as the older Paperwhite! Yes! Score 1 for us!
So the point is that when ordering covers for Kindles, it is even more important to choose the right model to avoid mistakes, returns and disappointment.
The article at Wikipedia is pretty good for comparing models: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Kindle
