Celebrating the spring, Easter season with irises & lilies. The written and pictorial history of the Iris begins in ancient Egypt where their image is immortalized on sculptures in temples and crypts as symbols of regeneration; the three petals representing wisdom, faith and valor. The Greek Goddess Iris, guide to the newly dead, was associated with rainbows that link heaven and earth symbolically, advancing the spiritual connection associated with the flower. The Iris flower is later related to French monarchy and the heraldic symbol of English kings as the fleur de lis emblem. The Iris, as well as lily flowers are also associated with the Virgin Mary.
