Questions on your order processes:

How long does it take for my order to ship?

To make and prepare to ship a leather product to you generally takes from 2-3 weekdays depending on the time of day we receive your order and the day of the week. If you place your order on a Friday afternoon or a weekend or holiday, add extra days accordingly, plus shipping time. Remember, if you pay for expedited shipping such as over night or two day this does not mean your order will ship out that day. We have to make your order first!!

The day an order leaves our shop doesn’t count either, as packages are picked up at our location and simply moved to a UPS or Fed X depot the first day. For instance an order for a journal placed on a Monday will be made and shipped out on Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the time of day you placed the order on Monday. The first ship day doesn’t count so overnight shipping means it’s picked up but doesn’t start to move until Wednesday or Thursday for delivery Thursday or Friday.

During the height of our busy season in November and December or during new product releases, it may take 3-5 days to make and ship your order. If you have a special event you are ordering for, please call or email us so that we can be alerted to your needs and help you make appropriate shipping decisions. We’re here to help!

Returns:

All returns require a Return Authorization code.
Because all of our leather products are handmade ‘to order’ in your specific color, we ask that you choose carefully to avoid mistakes. We only accept returns on manufacturer defects or problem covers. Of course, we also attend immediately to Oberon order fulfillment mistakes.

To receive an authorization code and discuss returning an item, please contact us at Oberon. All items returned without approval will be refused and returned to the sender. Again, thanks for choosing carefully. Contact Oberon here.

Why do some of the covers on your site show two colors and some don’t? Why do some pages show larger image shots and some don’t?

We are in a long process upgrading our website. We offered a major new look and information upgrade at the end of 2009. Over the course of 2010 we will be replacing older image files on our site and adding extra color images for journals and E Reader covers. This process is very involved and time consuming but we hope to complete the process in 2010. If you surf our site you’ll find that there are many instances on the pages of all three journal categories and in Kindle DX and other E Reader pages where you can see images in different colors. Thanks for your patience!!

Order terminology and email confirmations of your order:

When you place your online order with Oberon you’ll receive an email confirmation saying your order has been ‘approved’. This means we’ve got your order. Once we’ve entered your order into our system and begin working on it, your order will be referred to as ‘pending’ or ‘being made’. Your order status will be referred to this way until we’re ready to ship it (1-3 days usually). Once your order has shipped you’ll receive an automatic email message from UPS, Fed X or USPS (depending on what method you chose) confirming your shipment and in the case of UPS or Fed X they will include a tracking number. If you don’t, CHECK YOUR JUNK MAIL!

Error Messages on the website:

If you are getting an error message in the address or credit card submission part of your process, please read this:
The process of checking your credit card for sufficient funds is done automatically and instantaneously by a credit card processing center whose security level settings are high. If, knowing you have sufficient funds, you receive an error message saying your credit card is declined, in all likelihood you’ve entered your billing address incorrectly or the billing address you’ve submitted is different than it appears on your credit card statement.

Billing addresses, zip codes & names must exactly match what your credit card company has on file or your order won’t be approved by the processing center. Very Important: If you attempt to enter an incorrect address more than a few times on our site, pressing the final submit buttons, charges to your card will be flagged by your credit card company or bank.
Though these charges have been declined (we have not received any money) depending on the bank it may take several days to a week for the charges to drop out of site on your banks records. Security minded credit card companies may also alert you to possible fraudulent activity of multiple charges in the same amount on your card. We have no control over these activities. If you are unsure of your address or have this kind of trouble with our shopping cart, please refer to the way your address and name appear on your credit card statement before you press the final submit key or contact us on our toll free number to place your order. Questions on Oberon Products

Refills & Inserts
Journal Inserts

How do I find a filler insert for my journal?  Click: Fillers & Inserts

Do you sell a lined journal insert?

All of our journals come supplied with a hardbound blank, unlined book insert. However, they contain a removable sheet of paper with bold lines to aid with straight line writing. Simply put the template sheet behind the page you are writing on and the lines show through. Our purpose in offering an unlined insert is that it facilitates a multi use aspect to our book filler that would be inhibited by lines, ie, sketching & drawing, diagrams and scrapbooking.

Where can a buy a lined insert that fits your journals?

Other options used to be readily available but unfortunately this is no longer the case. Your best bet is to search the internet with the correct dimensions for our covers the most important dimension being the depth or width of the spine. If the book insert is too deep (too many pages) our cover won’t fit around it and will crack the spine of the oversize book you try to cram in!! Try searching under trade names: Mead, Livescribe, Callallini & Co, Franklin Covey, Tops Notebooks, Cachet.

Also, for those looking for paper more suited to fountain or calligraphy pen use try Pro Art Sketchbooks. These are unlined.

Our journals require inserts no larger than:

6 x 9 inch large journal 5.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall and 7/8 inch deep 208 pages
5 x 7 inch small journal 4.5 inches wide by 6.25 inches tall and 3/4 inch deep 220 pages
9 x 12 inch Extra Large journal 8.25 inches by 11 inches tall and 7/8 inch deep 220 pages
6 x 9 inch Icon journal 5.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall and 7/8 inch deep 208 pages

An insert smaller than these dimensions will work, it’s up to you how much the insert can ‘swim’ inside the cover!

Our Preference Collection Organizer inserts are made by Sun Graphix.

Dated Calendars:

Our organizer inserts include dated calendars. Typically we begin shipping the future year’s calendar in late spring (May/June). For instance June thru June would be the current year’s calendar. The ring binders in our organizers are standard sizes that are compatible with other day planners or organizer formats such as Day Runner, Day Planner and Franklin (though Franklin planners incorporate a 7 ring binder format). Product Questions

Where are your products made?

Aside from inserts that fill our products we make everything we sell at Oberon Design in Santa Rosa, CA. All of our leather products are made for you ‘to order’. We do not hold an inventory of pre-made leather products. Pewter products are made in small batches.

Product Images, Colors & Buttons:

Journal buttons are not interchangeable with the buttons on the E Reader covers we make. These buttons are entirely different in design construction so journal buttons won’t work on Kindle or Sony Reader covers.
Over many years we’ve created a graphic library of images that we utilize throughout our product line. Of our leather product lines our refillable leather journals have the widest image & color selection as this is the product we’ve been making the longest
Accordingly, we have seen over the years that most images are very popular in one or two colors, maximum. We track this information and sell the images in those colors only, helping our customers avoid color choices that are inappropriate or render the image difficult to see, etc. We may also limit the color choice because we find that the image is impossible to successfully produce in a challenging color.

Do you do custom work?

We’re sorry but we never do custom work involving one product piece or image. We’re just too busy! The rare custom work we do involves large quantities and prepayments for the tools necessary for the job at hand. If you have a project that necessitates quantities of over 50 pieces, please contact with us your information at sales@oberondesign.com and we’d be happy to send you our custom work information.

Do you still make.?

If you don’t see a product on our site (such as women’s clutch, paper books or photo albums, small address books) it means that we no longer have the means to make it for you. In rare cases we may be able to produce older images you no longer see on our site but can’t guarantee this. Email us with your request at sales@oberondesign.com and we’ll research it for you.

Looking for a product or an image you saw at a Renaissance Fair or other event and cant’ find it on our site? These items, archive images or specialty period costume products are only offered at fairs. Please see our events calendar for locations and dates of the fairs and festivals we participate in.

Caring for your Oberon Cover:

We use a specific product in our shop to condition and ‘feed’ our leather covers. Click on the link below to purchase Leather Lotion. It can also commonly be found for sale in better shoe or leather stores or shoe repair shops:

See the product care pages of our site to learn more: http://oberondesign.com/care.php

Finding Oberon Products in stores:

We sell to many great stores across the country. However, because our line encompasses so many image and color variables, requests for us to locate a specific product in a store in your area is almost impossible. That being said, we’d be happy to try to find stores in or around your location. Email us at sales@oberondesign.com with surrounding zip codes near your town or city and we’ll try to find a store that sells our products.
Note: We do not wholesale our Electronic Reader covers so they are only to be found on our site.
