Ensō Wave Icon Journal
In Japanese calligraphy, the term ensō refers to a disciplined practice of sumi-e or ink painting, applying an ink wash to thin Japanese rice paper. In the art of ensō the brushstroke is a swift, continuous motion. Once the stroke is made it is never manipulated or tinkered with, therefore, drawing ensō is considered a spiritual practice or spiritual discipline one masters over time, and as in meditation, provides a sense of calm and mastery.
